The time for sitting idling and seeing the grass is greener on the other side has ended, and I am now self hosting this blog! I have a new theme, and an awesome domain name to boot: thearcanery.com! I am hosting through Go-Daddy because they were cheap, well known, and I figured I would give them a shot. It’s not shabby at all- 10 bucks a year for the domain (the URL) and 4.99 a month for hosting. I definitely can handle that.

Anyway, I welcome you to make the transition with me over to the new website. Any differences between this blog and the next will all be explained. For any of you subscribed through my Feedreader, the work is done for you, I have redirected the feed to my new website.  For those of you who simply have me bookmarks, again, the new URL is:  http://thearcanery.com

I am going to practice a bit of alchemy here. I am going to take my two reagents, The Arcanery and my personal blog “Quite Possibly Insane”, and transmute them into the new “The Arcanery”.  I envision this blog to host both as a platform for my WoW and personal blogging. I intend to make it so you can view just the WoW content, all, or just the personal content, but we shall see. I am completely new to this wordpress business and I hope I catch on. Maybe.

Not only will frost mages have a 10% chance upon being struck to remove all bonds and VROOM away, they will also have a 10% chance to trigger Impact with any damaging spell. Whats new about this is that when you trigger Impact it will also reset the cooldown of your fire blast– which is huge. I can only imagine how awesome this will be when you need additional spell interrupts while dpsing a target.

The sad thing is that I give this no chance to make it to live though. Its going to be too overpowered, and if it did a large outcry of QQ will flood into blizzard from people getting interrupted every other cast with CS and Impact.

Back when it was time to deak with Malygos, Alexstrasza displayed remorse for having it end in his death.

• “I did what I had to, brother. You gave me no alternative.”
• “This resolution pains me deeply, but the destruction – the monumental loss of life – had to end. Regardless of Malygos’s recent transgressions, I will mourn his loss. He was once a guardian, a protector. This day, one of the world’s mightiest, has fallen.”

She seen a once fellow aspect driven mad and mourned his loss. Even more, Bolvar asked for her permission to take out the risen Frost Wyrms that were before the Battle of Angrathar the Wrathgate, indicating that honoring the dragonkin persists even after death and indeed resurrection, despite them not being who they once were. She expresses her grief for seeing her fellow red dragonflight being raised as servants of the scourge:

“Life is my Aspect, Dark One, and I, like all mothers, know both the pain and wonders that entails! For the past several years, I have watched my children be raised as instruments of war, slaughtered if they proved insufficient or too willful! I have lived knowing that so many died that I could do nothing for!”

Is it not possible that Alexstasza will declare that she cannot bare to see another aspect fall and instead vow to release the once protector of the earth, Neltharion, from the Old Gods? As we have already witnessed, it is us who answers to her when it comes to the dragons, and no one is going to challenge Deathwing without first consulting the Dragon Queen.

I think Blizzard saw how much awesome feedback they got from the new directions a few of the boss fights took. This may not be what happens, or even remotely close, but I won’t be a bit surprised if Cataclysm doesn’t end with Deathwing’s head hanging in the front of Stormwind or Orgrimmar. Or hanging off the side of Dalaran.

Now I imagine this will come as a shock to you, but the truth is that I have never been a part of any particular social group, that is unless loners are a group in and of themselves. You see, I’ve always been too introverted to make it in the popular/cool scene, and too self conscious to hang with the awkward or geeky types. Never have I enjoyed any of the normal sports your average teenage boy should like, so zero help there. Basically I was one socially estranged kid who floated between groups talking to whoever would pretend to listen.

It’s amusing that I should have found myself best-befriending a person who was pretty much nothing like myself. You know, the socially acceptable type. Sports, church, more outgoing- yea all that stuff. I look back on the friendship now with a bit of fire in my eyes due to how it ended and how a lot of shit was fucked up about it, but nevertheless he was who I considered my best friend for the duration of high school.

Fucked up you say? Hows this: when we were still good friends, I went to his house to find that he had sold a $30 pc headset, $30 World of Warcraft game PLUS the $30 expansion to one of his sorta-friends without even thinking to ask me if I would want them back. I bought all of that shit out of MY pocket for NO SPECIAL OCCASION AT ALL. I just wanted him to try it out and hopefully have a friend I know also play, I went over there to see if we could PLAY the game together. Even today it infuriates me when I think about this and I metaphorically, proverbially, or what the fuck ever CHOKE thinking of this bullshit. NEVERMIND explaining what fucked up shit happened that made it spiral down the toilet.

Regardless, I kind of have to change gears here to maintain some sort of direction, I have always been gamer at heart. Although, it wasn’t always a large part of who I am, and it wasn’t until I played my first online multiplayer game, SOCOM I: US Navy Seals, for the Ps2. My dad sat me down and explained to me that I could face other people, on their Ps2′s from anywhere and everywhere. He explained I could evev talk to them over the headset if I wanted. Granted talking to them was strange at first, I was hooked from day one. That’s when I switched gears and started enjoying true player versus player action.

Skipping forward to now, I love and enjoy playing World of Warcraft. If you also love the game, AWESOME and you should let me know you play too because that would make you 16% cooler to me. If you don’t, and have no real opinion on the game, whatever. But if you don’t play WoW, and you dare scoff at the idea of playing it without knowing a thing about it, you sir or madam need to politely navigate away from my blog. You are the type of person I make fun of here. If you think about it, reading my blog to begin with isn’t cool, so you should probably add that to the list of things you won’t do because other people won’t think your cool for it.

BACK ON TRACK (I swear I really am trying), I love the game. Allow me to introduce to the many self manifestations of me in the game:

1)

This is myself reincarnate. My main character, the one I identify with and enjoy the most. He is my mage, and his name is Azryu, and he isn’t going to take your shit. For every stupid ass excuse you have for why you’re so terrible at the game he has a frostbolt that has your name on it. As far as he’s concerned, your forehead has an expiration date on it and it’s time to take out of trash.

2)

This is my Paladin. He isn’t much for names, but he is all for beatings. He will swing his two handed axe at you and discharge a whole hell of a lot of holy carnage on you should you cross his path!

3)

This is my priest. He is the healer type. Don’t have that fool you though, there is plenty of take-y where there is heal-y. He’ll kill you too. Or save you. It really just depends on the circumstances I suppose.

I have a few other characters but those are the ones I play the most. To be honest I am sitting here smiling and laughing because I have enjoyed writing this last bit quite a lot. I can only imagine what this sounds like to the outsider looking in XD

I can’t say it enough: I am a gamer, yes I am. Next month I even will be attending Blizzcon 2010 (lovingly dubbed Nerdcon) in California 2010. I will be road-tripping up to San Fransisco, meet up with a good friend, and then progress down to Anaheim, CA where the convention is being held, just outside of LA.

The PTR is so buggy at  the moment (all water elementals are pemanent even without glyph AND retain the Freeze spell) and spell casters are so overpowered (intellect = LOL SPELLPOWER) that it is incredibly difficult to get any testing out of it that is worthwhile. So, I cannot accurately test certain fire talents to see how great/terrible they truly are.

So… be warned that the fire build I put together will simply be based on what looks good on paper.

Examples of things discussed:

• No critical thinking involved, fill in [Shatter] and [Piercing Ice] with points.

Points 6-10

• Fill [Improved Cone of Cold] and [Permafrost].

Points 11-15

• Fill [Icy Veins] and [Fingers of Frost].
• Put one point into [Ice Flows].

Points 16-20

• Fill [Cold Snap] and [Brain Freeze].
• Put one additional point into [Ice Flows].

Points 21-25

• Fill [Ice Barrier], [Shattered Barrier], and [Reactive Barrier].
• Put one point into [Ice Flows], finally filling that talent.

Points 26-32

• Use two points to fill [Early Frost] or [Piercing Chill]. If you are doing 3′s or 5′s, get [Piercing Chill] instead.
  • Rationale: [Early Frost] would be useful to get early slows on melee and such from the start and after resets. In 3′s and especially 5′s the splash chill from [Piercing Chill] is just too great of a CC to pass up on. I personally will likely choose [Piercing Chill] as I feel like having my main nuke have a splashing slow most of the time would be more ideal and I can live without the .5 second faster frostbolt every 15 seconds.
• Fill [Improved Freeze].
  • Rationale: This enables you to do a few things. You could CC some dps in a nova and be still utilizing the ability as a dps increase on your target. This can also allow you to you Deep Freeze a little more creatively to CC massive amounts of people (Nova, Deep one target, Cold Snap, Deep second target)
• Fill [Deep Freeze].

Now it’s time to branch out into a second tree. Essentially you have to choose which set of benefits you like most: 3% haste, 10% extra damage after interrupting, 70% sprint after blinking for 3 seconds; [OR] 70% pushback resistance, increased range and crit on fire blast, and a 10% chance to break all movement CC’s and gaining super speed. Both of them get improved counterspell, so I didn’t mention that.

They both look excellent and it will definitely come down to gameplay. I definitely see how 70% sprint attached to blink can be super annoying for your opponents and PURE win for you. I also can see a frost mage chilling behind a frost barrier, a rogue trying really hard to dps into us, and then BLAAAAAZZZING SPEEEED and then VVVRROOOOM. 70% pushback isn’t something to scoff at, either.
