Ok, there are of course quite a few addons out there, and I’m not saying your going to absolutely love each and every one I suggest. But hey, they are gonna get suggested anyway, so you’ll just have to deal.
Only kidding, lol.
Here is a list of the addons that I find particularly useful for mages. I won’t be generic things like buff bars or action bar editors, because those can be used for any class. I’m going to assume you have the basics- like Omen and such. I only want to inform you on what will help you preform as a mage better. That is what we are here for, yes?

Cryolysis 3
This is a very nice addon. Basically this takes all of the spells that would normally clutter your screen and put them into a pretty nice, customizable little set of bubbles. Teleport & Buff Menus, Mount button, Mana gem, and more, including three custom button which you can put whatever you want there (use item, macro, etc).
Decursive
Ok, basically in raids wither you like it or not, two things are expected from you. To make food, and decurse. And decursing is made so easy with this mod. You click the red box. It decurses them. And it will only show people who are within your range to decurse, so no wasting time there.
HelpMeSheep
This is a simple addon which will select your sheep target and set it as your focus. Then, by pushing the very deceptive “Sheep Target” button, you cast sheep on that target. The coolest thing is that you do not have to switch targets at all. Still target skill, click sheep, then proceed to kill. Also has a built in timer so you can keep that ever-so watchful eye on it.
MageAlert
This is by far the best mage addon I have. It alerts you with a flash and sound when something procs. For instance, when Hot Streak proc’s, you screen gains a little red flash effect and in the background you here a rather satisfying (and cool sounding) “Hot streak (then you hear a slight sound of almost like a radio tuning out, hard to describe)”. Same thing with Fingers of Frost, so for all you frosties, your a-ok.
Mage Fever
Oh yea, that’s right. It’s MAGE FEVER TIME BABY. Only kidding.
However! This is an addon which you can use in conjunction with MageAlert (as I do) or completely without. Mage Fever is something I came across recently which is very cool- it has a timer for living bomb if your a fire mage, so you can see how much time you have between casts to keep it up! However, it’s best feature is tracking the proc’s we all love so much.
From Fingers of Frost, Hot Streak, Clearcasting, to Firestarter- every proc you can possibley have is tracked by this (mage only!) addon. I use this with MageAlert so I get the flash and (very epic) sound that plays when these proc’s happen.
Quartz
This is a cast bar addon. I know, it can be used for anything, and not just a mage. -However- it has a very unique feature when shows your lancenty on your cast bar, letting you know when you can safely pre-click a spell so that by the time the command reaches the server, your casting right away. Most definately a must for those who have slight lag sometimes, and even for those who don’t. Time inbetween casts = dps lost. And dps lost = letting me down. Don’t let me down bro.
